In the spring of 2007 Sebastian Ozment, at the age of 5 ½, was diagnosed with a Pontine Glioma, a very rare, and basically untreatable brain tumor. Through what was the most trying period of time for Sebastian and his family, the staff of Children’s Memorial Hospital surrounded Sebastian with an impeccable quality of care, warmth, and attention, making the trauma and treatment of his condition that much more bearable. Because the team at Children’s Memorial Hospital took the time to forge an actual relationship with Sebastian and his family, the grim prognosis was easier to endure. Unfortunately, in September of 2007, Sebastian lost his battle with the illness. Because there is so little exposure to this type of tumor, and seemingly even less research for the type of tumor, there are few treatment options for the children who suffer, and there is no cure. Funding the research of this devastating condition is very much so in need. We write to you today to make you aware of our cause and ask for your support as a sponsor for Sebastian’s Shoot for a Cure! - benefiting Children’s Memorial Hospital.

Image: Skeet ShootingOn September 12, 2009, the first annual Sebastian’s Shoot for a Cure! took place at Palos Sportsman’s Club in Frankfort, Illinois. We are proud to announce that all proceeds from that day were donated to Children’s Memorial Hospital totaling $10,000.00! We could not have been happier with the way the event went that day, and we are looking forward to another year of success for the 2010 Sebastian’s Shoot for a Cure!

Just as last year, the event will be a one day, skeet and trap shooting tournament in which sportsmen of a variety of skill level will compete in one of two events; as well as be given the opportunity to participate in a silent auction, and various other activities. Just as last year, all proceeds from the day will be donated directly to Children’s Memorial Hospital research.

Why a shooting tournament? In early 2008, Sebastian’s father, Christopher, visited his own father at Palos Sportsman’s Club, and began shooting skeet. And he hasn’t looked back since! Shooting for sport has become a way that he has learned to cope with the loss of his son, and after attending another benefit shooting tournament; his wheels started spinning to plan one himself. This is a way for him to combine something he loves, with a way to give back to the people who were so supportive of Sebastian, as well as helping to fund the research needed to further the advancement of treatment options for Pontine Gliomas, and hopefully someday soon find a cure.

On the following pages, we have outlined your four sponsorship options, along with what will be included in your sponsorship, as well as the sponsor registration form. We ask that you take request into serious consideration, and hope that even though times may be tough financially, you will make our cause yours as well!

If you have any further questions, or need any further information, please feel free to contact either Christopher or Stephanie, using the contact information below. We look forward to hearing from you, and we know that together, we can make Sebastian’s Shoot for a Cure! a  complete success!

Sincerely,

Christopher and Stephanie
